As I walked out of The Albion Prayer Path today, I turned back as I exited and looked at the rocks, leaves and dirt.
I thought, “Sometimes I give more, sometimes she gives more.”
Instead of griping about life’s challenges and suffering through attachment , my walk spoke to me about looking at that which is temporary.
We cannot possibly shuffle life into neat piles like we might with suits from a deck of cards.
It just won’t line up that way.
So, rather than sorting and shifting or even banging my head up against a wall, I was lead to the realization that my feelings, situations and cycles will all dissolve in time into something new.
And just as me taking time for a walk on the path builds a steady habit of self-care, staying connected to what truly matters creates consistency in recognizing what is — and isn’t — mine to carry.
If I can stay consistent with who and what really matters in the moment and focus on the control I do have, I can better pull my attention away from the outward confusion that derails my day.
What exactly did the path give me today?
Space.
Space to exhale.
Space to let go of the outcome.
Space to be held without having to carry the mental load.
What exactly did I give the path?
Purpose.
Purpose to take.
Purpose to hold.
Purpose to witness all that I have choosen to carry.
Even small acts of self-care like walking outside, or talking with someone safe, remind your body that you exist outside of your problems.
Sometimes “allowing” means saying:
“I don’t have to have this all figured out today. I can just see things clearly, one step at a time.”
Recognizing the temporary gave me respite.
It gave me permission to let things be how they are, because even without taking control they will shift and change on their own.
It opened my mind up to what truly is important.
The vastness of blessing that is already here.
Namaste,
Janay-
